Masanjore is a sleepy village whose claim to fame is the "Canada Dam" built across the meandering Mayurakshi river. We stayed for a couple of days in a sprawling bungalow overlooking the dam as guests of the "Irrigation And Water Directorate Of West Bengal". When not gazing in awe at the incredible views of the dam, or driving through the forests and hills of the Dumka District of Jharkhand, our time was spent sitting in the village tea shack and market observing the mostly tribal population in their daily tasks.Here are some photos of their simplicity starkly contrasted against the backdrop of the very modern Masanjore Dam
